Raritan crown head and Purasan slow flush

Hello all,

We have a Raritan Crown II head and Purasan that is flushing VERY slowly (the head is converted to fresh water, and with the inlet water off, it takes 30-45 secs for the bowl to drain with no solids at all). We have already dismantled the Crown head and found everything inside is clear. We are starting to think the Purasan may have filled up with stuff and is blocking flow. We didn't realize the TP we were using didn't dissolve. This has been corrected.

Installation was done per the manuals. The Purasan and commode are below the waterline. The only thing I didn't do (will add in the future) is isolation valves at the inlet and outlet of the Purasan so it can be removed without dumping several gallons of poopwater in the bilges.

Has anyone had this issue?

How did you fix it?

We thought of using a 'clog buster' to run pressurized fresh water through the system and flush it out. Anyone ever try this? Any downsides?

And does anyone have a recommendation for a good marine head repair tech in the southern Maryland area of the Chesapeak?

Thanks in advance for the help!!!

-Shawn

Re: Raritan crown head and Purasan slow flush

The PuraSan has a macerator in it, so unless you've been using premium toilet paper (the super strong, super soft stuff)--or worse yet, wet wipes-- that's not likely to be the problem. If it isn't you'd see that the P/S isn't discharging.

I'm inclined to think that low voltage to the toilet and PuraSan may be the problem...it's a major reason for sluggish discharge. You really need to talk to Raritan tech support: 800-352-5630. There is a Raritan servicing dealer in Annapolis: The closest Raritan servicing dealer to you is in Annapolis--Annapolis Harbor Boatyard--410-268-0092

Nope, bad idea. There are TWO chambers in the P/S...you'd only make things worse.
