Plastic water tank repair

Hi all. My water tank has sprung a small leak on the top, on which looks to be a baffle. There's a triangular shape cutout, and the walls have caved in a little causing a leak.

Due to the odd shape of the tank, I'd like to repair it. However, I have some questions.

1) what is the tank made out of?
2) does it contain BPA?
3) my neighbor suggests filling the baffle with bondo or otherwise supporting the wall somehow.

Do you all have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Any company that does plastic welding should be able to weld it. We had are thirty year old water tank welded three years ago and has not leaked since.

Re: Plastic water tank repair

WEST System has a very good plastic epoxy formula known as G/Flex. Follow the instructions carefully, including the flame treatment. It's good stuff.

Thanks for the tip. I finally tried G/Flex and it seems to have bonded well. Almost burned a hole in the tank when flame treating it. Doh!

So I patched the hole with G/Flex and then filled the area with bonded to support the walls. Note: Bondo went on top of gaff tape.

Re: Plastic water tank repair

If its Polyetheline theres a glue that I have used that works

TAP Poly-Weld Adhesive : TAP Plastics

The heat treating does not meant to destry the plastic so you have been doning it the wrong way/

That URL has a video on how to heat treat.
