New Holding tank for 28' Spencer

I have a 1960 Spencer 28' sailboat it has a manual head and no holding tank, I am putting a drain in for a shower and also need a tank for my waste, Was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a cheap 20 gallon tank. And can I get away without running a macerator? Im converting the boat to be a liveaboard for Vancouver Island and Vancouver B.C. I have heard of guys Fiberglassing over Rubbermaid containers does that actually work?

Thanks Captain Shawn

After you check out how much it will cost for everything you need to build one from fiberglass, you may find that it is less expensive to have one built to the correct size specifications.

I got a very reasonable price from - Triple M Plastic Products Inc

Mine fits into a strange shaped space.

Re: New Holding tank for 28' Spencer

Ronco Plastics (no relation to the VegoMatic Ronco) Ronco Plastics makes TOP quality thick walled rotomolded (at least 50% thicker than most OEM tanks and ANY off-the-shelf tank) plastic tanks for a very reasonable price and has more than 400 shapes and sizes, over 100 of which are non-rectangular. And they install fittings in the sizes and locations specified by the customer when they make the tank. If you can't find a good fit among all those, Triple M Plastics is prob'ly your best source for a one off custom tank.
Triple M Plastic Products Inc The only downside to Triple M is, their prices are VERY reasonable for custom one-off tanks, but that's still gonna be 2-3x the price of a rotomolded tank for which the mold already exists. And, they're in ME, which can make shipping expensive

You do not need a macerator to empty the tank...a manual diaphragm pump will work just fine.

Re: New Holding tank for 28' Spencer

I have seen holding tanks built out of 10 or 12 in. dia. white pvc pipe. Using glue on end caps and fittings glued to the end caps.

Go Green and save the space for more beer or rum.
