New custom-built tanks?

So, I just pulled up the cabin sole of our new Columbia 10.7, which we bought in December, and discovered our water tanks were in bad shape. We patched the holes and cracks and they seem to be holding water now, but I'm thinking we're going to need to replace the tanks eventually.

Is there a company out there that can knock off replacements? Our old tanks were obviously custom made to fit the curve of the bilges. Or, has anyone built their own out of fiberglass or another material?

Re: New custom-built tanks?

Attached is my write-up on building integral watertanks from a few years back. Worth considering as there are a lot of pluses to integral tanks. Minuses are the work required. Hope this helps.

Ronco Plastics has a large variety of different shapes available and supplied many builders, they will make custom but yours really is an odd shape.

Thanks. That's an option for motor boats, but on a sailboat you'd be cutting off your access to the keel bolts forever. Looks good in your pictures.

The Ronco catalog is a great resource. They have several options that look like they might work. They also offer to build custom tanks.

I'll have to send them some specs and see how affordable they are.

Thanks!

Re: New custom-built tanks?

Check the Ronco Pastics catalog Ronco Plastics marine Tanks They make TOP quality thick-walled water and waste tanks for a very reasonable price and have more than 400 shapes and sizes, over 100 of which are non-rectangular, and they install fittings in the sizes and locations specified by the customer when they make the tank.

If you have no choice but to have tanks custom made, Triple M Plastics in Maine is your best source Triple M Plastic Products Inc
