Marine Air - Error Message

One of my Marine Air Conditioning units has stopped working and is displaying an error code of "HPF" on the control head.

Can't find that in the manual... Anyone have any ideas?

First hit:

"The HPF is a High Freon Pressure error. It indicates that airflow around the condenser isnt happening like it should. This is sometimes caused by a dirty filter, an obstruction in front of the intake, a broken fan, or even just a blown fuse that prevents the fan from running."

Almost always poor water flow... Try flushing the condenser with city water

Re: Marine Air - Error Message

I have a Marine Air 16,000 BTU, and every time I have received that error code it was due to water flow usually caused by clogged strainer or water line. If cleaning the strainer doesn't solve, I use a pressure bulb and flush city water in from the discharge side.

Re: Marine Air - Error Message

refrigeration cycle is all about removing heat, if HPF shows in cool cycle it'll be water related, on the other hand should it be showing in Heat cycle then you've probaly got a restriction of some kind in the Air flow, check filter, check fins, check duct run, check outlet for any form of restriction etc (doesn't take a hell of a lot to create an aircushion at the outlet reducing flow etc ) so anything partially covering air outlet will affect heat cycle refrigerant wise, and remember , even though you have a 1>4 fan speedwise, low speed is actually about 80% of full volume, any slower and it won't keep up with the heat removed from the seawater

The HPF warnig happened during cooling...

The raw water strainer is clear... Tomorrow I will dive the the thru hull and see if there are any critters in there.
