Re: manual head emptys but doesn't flush.

The hose that feeds raw water to the head - is the seacock open? Is the hose clogged?
Is there a lever that needs to be moved to allow raw water to be pumped in? Does the pump handle itself need to be turned to pump in water?
That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Re: manual head emptys but doesn't flush.

is it freshwater or seawater flushed?

clogged inlet line
valve closed
does the inlet have a strainer, have you checked it
are you sure the level is fully in the wet positon

Re: manual head emptys but doesn't flush.

There are a couple of threads along this subject. Here is one -
http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ter-31015.html

Use the google search on the site. I used "head pump sea water", without the quotes to find the thread above.

I am going through a similar diagnosis myself. For me, I have Jabsco and think it is probably time to replace the pump. The consensus on here seems to be that is that it is easier and not much more expensive to replace the pump instead of the rebuild kit. I am also thinking of changing to electric. I guess it will depend on how ambitious I am this winter while Juno is on the hard.

Good luck!

Re: manual head emptys but doesn't flush.

A lot of times it is a case of the flapper valve at the pump "switch" being hung up... When a manual head is switched from fill to pump out a finger comes up from below the flapper to hold it open. This disallows pump suction from pulling in rinse water. Sometimes this flapper doesn't seat properly (especially after long periods of being held up by the finger)

I had a similar problem. It was the valve seat.
