Macerator Runs and Pumps but Won't Exit Thru Hull

The Jabsco 18590 self-priming macerator runs, pumps waste thru the hose to the thru hull. I disconnected the macerator hose from the thru hull and pumped waste into a bucket thru the hose connected to the macerator. The thru hull is clear. I have disconnected the hose from the thru hull and opened the thru hull. I can see daylite and water runs into the boat from the thru hull. When the hose is reconnected to the thru hull and the macerator is run nothing come out the thru hull. I have snorkeled under the boat while the macerator is running and nothing is coming out. My thought is that there is not adaquate pump pressure to overcome the outside water pressure. Any thoughts.

Re: Macerator Runs and Pumps but Won't Exit Thru Hull

I will answer my own question. We thought it out and decided that maybe the vent, which is about a foot below the toe rail, was clogged just enough to prevent air from entering the tank. Which would mean that the discharging waste was trying to create a vacum, thus preventing the pump from having enough pressure to overcome the seawater pressure. The thruhull is on the bottom of the hull. That would allow it to have enough pressure to flow into the bucket, but not enough pressure to get thru the thruhull. I put a hose up to the vent outlet and sprayed water into the vent. It must have cleared the vent hose because now it pumps out fine. Another service call $$$$$$ averted.

Well, that one was easy enough for CF members to figure out.

ALWAYS fun to save $$$$
