Macerator outlet orientation

I purchased this macerator

https://www.defender.com/product.jsp...236&id=2739478

which matches the same model # that is currently installed on my boat. I realized after I got it that the discharge port on the new one is 180 deg opposite of the one that is installed on my boat.

Does anyone know if it is possible to unbolt the 4 screws at the bottom and flip the discharge port to the other side?

I couldn't find anything in the owners manual (click on "documentation" in the Defender listing at the link you provided) that even mentions flipping the discharge port, so I think it would be a good idea to talk to tech support at Jabsco before taking anything apart. Paul Compagna is their toilets etc guru...his direct line is 978-282-5246.

Re: Macerator outlet orientation

I think you can rotate it 180 degrees. If my memory is correct, the 4 bolts that hold the end on are two short ones that hold the macerator end to the impeller body, and two long ones that go all the way through to the motor. I don't believe there's any sort of key or registration to prevent rotating. I currently have a spare motor and housing separated on the boat. If no one else confirms it for you by then, I'll check in the morning when I get down there.

You should be good to go! The housing can rotate 180 degrees. The red circles are the two bolts that hold the whole macerator assembly to the motor.

Re: Macerator outlet orientation

After posting my previous, I realized I had done that very thing on our boat.

Thank you! I just gave it a try and put power to it and it sounds like it runs fine. Thank you for the leg work, it is much appreciated
