Question Large Composite Propane Tanks

I'm finishing a 44 foot trimaran and had originally planned to use two of the deck hatches for the new fiberglass propane tanks. Hey, neat! light weight, non rusting and cheaper than aluminum. Great right? Well, maybe. The size I wanted has to be mounted vertically. There are some larger tanks, like the ones made for forklifts, but they are designed to supply liquid propane and designed so they draw off of the bottom. I can make the hatches big enough to lay the tanks horizontally, but can they be turned so they draw propane vapor, or not. I'm not thrilled with the idea of taking out the brass valves and modifying them. Anyone have dealings with these?

I would like to use the 33 pound fiberglass tank that the forklkifts use. But what I have been able to find is that they are NOT designed to deliver propane vapors that stoves and heaters require, but only liquid propane that a carburetted internal combustion engine requires.
