Isotherm frig unit

Hello all,

My boat has the smallest of the Isotherm compressors connected to a small evaporative plate in the icebox. Recently the frig has been coming on a lot more than usual. The thermostat is on the warmest temp. Everything else seems ok. Any clues?

Re: Isotherm frig unit

If this is a change from when system always performed well then either condenser cooling is restricted or there is a refrigerant leak. If this is a fan cooled system fan may not be running or condenser coil is restricted with dust and hair. If condenser is water cooled it needs cleaning or pump is not moving enough water. If you have a through hull water drain condenser it may need to be cleaned weekly.

If there has been a loss of refrigerant it will be indicated by loss of frost on a percentage of evaporator’s surface area missing.
