Definitely dont feed those beasts or encourage them to come round people.
My inlaws unlived in house has apparently a raccoon using the attic as a latrine. The house has had a funny odor for the last few years and neighbor saw a coon lift up the shingles and go into the roof. So I get out the ladder, lift the attic door and poop rains down on me. I go into the attic and there is 3 to 4 inch thick piles, large areas of the attic floor covered in poop.

CDC - Baylisascaris - Prevention & Control

attic looks similar to those pictures except much much worse as it has been going on for years. The CDC says no one has gotten sick from inhaling the eggs but who really knows?
So far I have picked up 9 bags of poop and blown in insulation. I set a trap in the attic and baited with bacon, cat food and peanut butter, so if I catch it, I will post a photo. The CDC has a written up procedure to follow. the more I read about that roundworm the worse I feel about cleaning up the attic.

here is a shot of one eating the brain tissue.

Re: I Cured the Smell from My Head

1979, alexian brothers hospital, san jose
1986, cedars sinai medical center, lost angels, cali
1990, midway hospital, post anestesia care unit and operating rooms all did studies of why folks , ie, rns , were becoming ill whjen using water/ice machine. the studies each showed the micro organisms foun d and the treatments done as these grew to find out WHAT to use to KILL the organisms.
sorry , rakuflames, chlorine isnt what is used.
sorry gord, chlorine is not what worked.
chlorine does not KILL virus, fungus, nor mrsa nor pseudomonas areoginosa..
the most prevalent organisms found in the ice machines, as they are the most prevalent organisms found rampant in hospitals.
we found NOTHING KILLS these----except concept 2-5-6, distributed out of santa fe springs.
in 1979, we found hexachlorophene was a good PREVENTER of topical staphylococcus infections, but doesnt work on surfaces, only skin, and had been disallowed by fda because of damage to infants. they made a substance called hibiclens to replace that. that was not nearly as effective, as didnt provide long term protection as a film, which hexachlorophene did.
since 1979, mrsa and pseudomonas have become much mo0re difficult to kill.
the ONLY virus easily killed on any surface is hiv --and that is because it dies on removal from the blood it grows in. go figger. tap water WILL kill that one.
if chlorine were able to KILL virus and all bacteria, it woul dbe in use as a disinfecting agent in all hospitals. sorry, but it doesnt kill anything but people.
go for the belief that chlorine kills all--isnt my boat nor my life. i willbe safe and use that which is available to change the pH of the environment these things live in and i will stock up on my proper antibiotix for use should something get me..
rakuflames-- being a typesetter is not same as being trained in a field and only some info gets to you-- none, if you do your job properly. typeset was discontinued long ago-- about the time they were discovering chlorine doesnt work--- many intensive care units were closed for operation due to that belief, as mrsa and pseudomonas spread through them.. many folks became infected with oral infections due to that belief. many folks got nosocomial infections of bones, lungs and blood due to those beliefs. so go ahead and trust those beliefs to keep you from becoming ill.
gord, if you need solid proof, look it up in each mentioned hospital's records--i hope by now they have become public.

I just now was inspired to shower with microban. I am pre rinsing in bleach. Using vinegar as a post rinse . Lysol as a deodorant and a few squirts of fabreze. Suggesting my sophistaceted concerned yet still out doors manly quality. With a air of freshness and sarcasm

Is it still an antiseptic if I drink it first?

Re: I Cured the Smell from My Head

Chlorine Bleach is also horrible for the environment, especially when you dump your waste out at sea. All that bleach goes into the food chain when it gets absorbed by microorganisms, plankton, and small fish then eaten by larger fish and others creatures, so on and so on until we eat them. Every step of the way the toxic levels climb. This is why when people eat dolphin or whale meat they can come down with mercury poison, even when they don't they still tend to have high level of mercury in their bodies which can eventually lead to various medical problems (I realize mercury isn't bleach, but its an example people tend to be aware of). Vinegar is plenty safe and works just as well on most cleaning jobs. I like to add a little lemon when it wont hurt what I'm cleaning.

Halogens/Organohalogens along with other chemicals have also been found to cause a higher level of hermaphrodite offspring in polar bears. That's never a good thing for any species.

This article talks about shrinking genitals, but it applies similarly with the above.

Re: I Cured the Smell from My Head

chlorine bleach after it reacts with organic matter , neutralizes into harmless salt water

HowStuffWorks "How does chlorine bleach work?"

Quote:
That same reaction produces sodium hydroxide (NaOH), and by mixing chlorine gas with sodium hydroxide you create sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl). When you buy a gallon of bleach at the grocery store, what you are buying is the chemical sodium hypochlorite mixed with water in a 5.25-percent solution. You're buying salt water that has been changed slightly by electricity.
The tiny amount of bleach from a holding tank when discharge, does not do anything, does not enter the food chain and quickly becomes plain old salt water again.

http://www.factsaboutbleach.com/blea...vironment.html

Bleach does not harm the environment
Household bleach begins and ends as salt water in a fully sustainable cycle. There's a significant difference between "bleaching"-- the name often associated with the manufacturing of paper products -- and household bleach.
