Re: Help with frozen AC condenser.

i lucked out! I pulled out the control panel and found corroded spade endings for the wires back to the compressor itself. cleaned one ending, changed the other. it works like new. I ran it all day and tested off and on.

so glad I started with the easy to get to part

Re: Help with frozen AC condenser.

Turns out the air flow out the unit was a problem.

1. Avoid kinks and bends in ducting.
2. Don't close up too many vents. Our unit supplies 3 areas and two had their vents closed so not enough air moving out. We thought to close them and boost 1 area, but turns out it can create more issues.

Better now.

I am in final installation for the same unit and had it freeze up in the same fashion during operational testing. I shared this forum link with my installer. I definitely have tight bends in ducts.

Re: Help with frozen AC condenser.

Solution! At no extra charge we are installing two new ducts to carry air more fully into cabins. Alleviates estrictions.

Re: Help with frozen AC condenser.

Updating my old posts: in this case, the issue was actually due to poor flow throughout the system. Our installation featured vents that could be opened/closed in cabins which, according to ac guy, is not great. There needs to be sufficient flow out the system. This combined with a terrible, custom right split at the exit of the unit was causing insufficient flow.
