Help please my TMC electrical toilet

My TMC electrical toilet reversed the intake flow . instead of bringing in sea water , it blows air out.

Couple of days ago, I noticed that there is no sea water running in the bowl when I was operating the toilet , while the bowl was emptying normally through the outlet hose.
I disconnected the intake hose and I set the hose in a bucket full of sea water, where I notised that air was coming out of the hose making bubbles, instead of suction.

Did anybody have the same issue? Is there a cure?

Thank you

Re: Help please my TMC electrical toilet

If the intake impeller (part # 29 on the drawing on p 6 in the manual TMC Electric toilet owners manual ) has failed, that could cause it. If the toilet is more than 3 or 4 years old, it's likely time to put a complete service kit in it.

Re: Help please my TMC electrical toilet

If it's that new, you should get a replacement under warranty.

Re: Help please my TMC electrical toilet

Could the polarity be reversed making it run backwards? I know some motors are reversible. No idea how that could happen unless you have been working on the electrical system.

Re: Help please my TMC electrical toilet

I thought of that, Parks... Just reversing the wires will do it and can often be used to clear a clog in the discharge pump by making the impellers run backward. But I don't think the intake impeller can be isolated from the discharge impeller in an integral pump toilet...it wouldn't flush OR bring in water.

Re: Help please my TMC electrical toilet

I had many problems with the electric head that came with my 32' Kettenburg when I bought it. My final solution was to deep six it and put in a conventional head. That =s fewer problems, no electrical drain and less repair time. I work to the KISS system. Sail on!

Re: Help please my TMC electrical toilet

Hi Peggie, I'm just guessing here as I've never actually run into this problem, but the discharge pump, which is a centrifugal, might work in either direction if the impeller has just simple straight blades.

If I'm guessing correctly, then running the motor backwards would cause the intake pump to suck air from the bowl rim and push it out the intake. The discharge side would continue to function normally. I just don't know enough about the discharge pump to be sure.

I have a pretty simple electrical system and I did not touch the polarity

Thank you all of you for your help

Re: Help please my TMC electrical toilet

A question, Manos: you said you only installed this toilet barely a month ago. Has it always had this problem or was it working normally until just recently?

Re: Help please my TMC electrical toilet

Big shot in the dark, is there any possibility your battery polarity connections are reversed?

Years ago (before the early 1960's) when cars had generators instead of alternators, I did car radio repair. Radios had just become partly solid state. Every once in a while, I'd run across someone whose radio had quit, but everything in the car worked correctly.
The radio worked fine on the bench.
In each case, the car battery had gotten installed backwards for various reasons.
The only thing polarity sensitive in the whole car was the radio !

Re: Help please my TMC electrical toilet

do yourself a favour: get rid of the TMC toilet & get a Jabsco or Johnson Pumps or some other reputable make! the plasticcomposition TMC uses for some parts is of inferior quality & very brittle. apart from what caused the present "reversal", get rid of it!
