anjou, any acid will attack the alkali
salt crystals. And yes, they are salts, and yes, urine forms salts in fresh or
salt water, just more so in
salt water.
You may be able to attack the crystals but the valves themselves are only rubber and after a few years they routinely need replacement, so you might just want to replace them all now. And in the future,
pump longer and harder so there's nothing but
WATER with no urine left soaking around those
parts. Yes, that means lots more to
pump out if you are using a tank. The trade-off is either more pumping, or more frequent
salt problems.
This is why dairy farmers don't let the cattle use the facilities. Too much pumping out to do. You never knew?
