Head Doing Strange Things

When we pump our head dry, approx. 10 seconds later large air bubbles appear and the head fills up about half way. It has never done this before. In the past when we pumped it dry, it stayed dry. We've tried pumping it more, we've tried the wet setting, nothing works. It keeps filling back up.

Any ideas?

Probably needs a new top valve gasket. This is the part actuated by the wet/dry lever. Especially if it's a Jabsco.

Agreed, or joker valve depending on the manufacture and it may just need cleaning. But if it's over 3 years old a replacement maybe in order.

Yep...It's a Jabsco....one year old. Interesting thing is that the "wet" stopped working about one month after we installed it. It just started working again when this problem appeared. Oh well, I do truly love woking on heads!!!!

send an email to the above with the same subject line and you will get a replacement top valve gasket in the mail. Apparently there was a problem with some of them.

I have found that early failures on Jabsco products are pretty common.

I actually like Jabsco heads. I know a lot of folks badmouth them but they can't be beat for the price. I find they usually last at least five years. On my CS36 I've replaced two in nearly twenty years and I can assure you they've had a lot of hard use. It's more economical to replace the whole thing than buying the parts kit. On my Beneteau I have two of them and have had to replace the joker valves only. I think part of that problem is the way Beneteau runs the hoses because on the CS I've never had to replace joker valves.
