Almost certainly this will cure your problem. I never leave both tanks valved open simultaneously. If I forget to switch tanks every few hours and they get too unequal I just open the opposite return circuit and the engine will transfer fuel to the lower tank in a short time. Plus if somehow one tank becomes contaminated the other one should still be ok.
