Re: Frigoboat fridge Danfoss 35 three flashes

Do you have the new filter-drier installed in the system now? At the time I was doing mine, it was a cut-and-solder deal, and to be candid, I'm not sure that there wasn't some debris from that exercise, as it was a far-from-"cleanroom" environment and modus, which actually caused it to fully pack up, hard as described earlier.

But it seems to me that one should be able to install a quick-disconnect type connection instead of cutting open the line; if you fully evacuated, made your insertion, and managed your lines to provide clean refrigerant (no moisture, no anything-else-but), there should be no reason for any (moveable, as it seems it was if you could get the cap tube running again with mere hand-on-evap) clog.

I was never able to do the "listen" test as my installation was not in a place that I could even see it let alone hear it, so I don't recall whether your sounds are normal or signifying some issue.

But, what is the current state - running and making cold, at an acceptable amp draw, or something else, regardless of the birdies and Zulus singing to you?

Re: Frigoboat fridge Danfoss 35 three flashes

Interesting, I have put two bags of ice in the box few days ago to keep some food and fluids in there and flipped the breaker on, just to see. Turned the RPM control down to minimum and, amazing it kept working until I turned it off at noon.
I have the Frigoboat filter/drier ready, I am pumping down the system as I type this update. I have a heat lamp pointed on the compressor and a 60W incandescent bulb in the icebox, keeping the evaporator and the compressor at ~130degF. I will leave the pump on for 12hrs again, then I will let the freon in from the can into the static system and let it stabilize before inserting the drier. As recommended, I will add freon a bit at a time until I get the desired almost full frost over of the evaporator plate.
