I just want to update my post. The seals arrived - and I don't think I'm going to be happy with them. I'll let you know...

keep in mind that magnetic seals are just that.......magnetic, they need something ferric(ous) to stick to and they are also what I'd describe as a kiss type seal that is to say they are not forced closed as the magnetic pull is sufficient for the design. For thinner seals up to 1/2"ish I've had no problems with the self adhesive type seal strip applied properly, which means after a thorough desolvent rinse very gently raising the substrate ( lid) temperature a few degrees above ambient and after cutting very tight mitres stick it down, then superglue the mitres and give the seal a light wipe with silicon spray to keep it from moisture adhering, been doing this a while now and had pretty good results, oh and the raising the temp bit is to prevent moisture bloom
