Fresh Water Pump...Dead?

I am doing a great deal of reading about fresh water pump issues- I do have a few questions. This is a Navy 44 with both a sea water and fresh water pump system. The sea water switch is turned on, and both the head sink faucet and galley both work. Turn on the water, pump signs away and water comes out.

On the fresh water side, I turn the switch on and hear nothing when I open the galley faucet. Does the switch at the electrical panel have a fuse someplace? Are they located behind the panel where the connections are?

from my reading of previous posts, sounds like if its NOT a fuse, the pump has died.

Just making sure i'm pointed in the correct direction...

Get a volt meter. Measure the voltage at the motor:

1) with the motor connected

2) with the motor disconnected (measure voltage on the wire side)

Re: Fresh Water Pump...Dead?

Actually you dont. From your description you have an electrical pump that operates for sea water and a separate electrical pump that pumps fresh water. The first place you start is to see if you have voltage at the pump when it should be running. Get that meter out and let us know what you find.

With the greatest respect, I believe that this is an occasion that warrants the expense of an experienced person that can locate and rectify the problem whilst having you on board, which gives you the opportunity to look and learn. You should then be able to locate things such as fuses, plumbing filters and pumps etc which makes it much easier for you in the future.
Good luck and cheers.

Bob's right. So is bleemus. You're on your boat, we're not. Even with the best of wiring diagrams (rare, but it happens ) none of us knows what the PO could have done. Only YOU can look to see. Good luck.
