Found the watermaker deal of the year

Found on Ventura CA Craigslist, a 2004 Spectra Catalina 300 with MCP in great condition (1400 hrs) for $2,450.
It had been on for 17 days with no inquiries so after PMing with Tellie i went ahead and snapped it up. Many thanks to Tellie for his advise.

Actually.... Yes it is, since all he needs to do is replace the membrane for around $250 and maybe a couple of low pressure pump heads (if needed) for around $200, and he then has what is essentially a brand new system.

Good going! I'm still looking also- need to buy before returning to Acapulco, also looking for a nice/quiet diesel generator to install below my chart table. I believe auxiliary water& diesel tanks will balance the load midship?
Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Found the watermaker deal of the year

Last season, I bought a used Spectra 380c for $1600 or so, then spent an additional $1500 or so to replace/rebuild everything and though I'd made the deal of the century. Two water makers is........... nice.

You made out. Congratulations.

Re: Found the watermaker deal of the year

I think sight un-seen by me but looking at pictures of this Spectra that this was a very good deal. If I had it in my shop and did a few minor things it would be priced at $5,000+ and it probably wouldn't last long.
