Flexitank pumpout location

So we did it...we bought a vetus bladder for our black water holding tank. Before everyone blasts that part of the plan just trust me it was our only option and will be a huge improvement over the system I just took out.

Right now I'm starting to install the new system and I'm a bit confused about where the discharge (pumpout) hose should be located. I thought it was pretty obvious that it should go on the bottom and lowest part of the bladder, but every design I find online (not many) and the directions seem to indicate the discharge should be on the top of the tank.

The only thing I can figure is that its probably not a great idea to put a hole in the bottom of the bladder where black water will put constant pressure on the seal around the fitting. I think the fitting should be able to handle that though. I would like to have it on the bottom so it pumps out completely each time.

Does anyone have any insight into where the best place for the discharge fitting is?

The Inlet (3), Suction (4), and Air Relief (5) connections are all located on the upper surface of the tank.

Before I took it out, my bladder type holding tank had all the fittings on top. The tank needs to sit on a flat surface. Fittings on the bottom would make that very difficult.

Thanks....it's probably not a great idea to be creative with a hole in a holding tank.

I got a note from Peggie Hall recently talking about this very subject. She pointed out that you really need to be sure that you install vent lines to allow the gasses that the sewage will release to escape. If the vent is not installed or gets blocked you'll end up with a big bag of sewer gas in your boat. Not a good thing.
