Selecting a refrigeration
system for icebox
conversion begins with the estimated heat load of each box to be refrigerated. The variable speed BD50 compressor
can efficiently convert a 4 to 6 cubic ft box into a refrigerator freezer
in warm climates. A box of 10 cu ft will require maximum hourly Btu output 300 to 500 Btu at times from the BD50 compressor. The evaporator and condenser selected is always sized to handle maximum believed needed compressor output.
I recommend a 400 to 500 square inch surface area thin plate evaporator for a ten cubic ft 36 degree F refrigerator
Box. Compressor speed will need to be adjustable manually or automatically from 2500 rpm
to 3500 rpm
depending on condenser cooling
If Boat remains in Canada
waters the BD35 compressor will need an evaporator that can absorb only 250 to 300 Btu of heat per hour.
