Espar D8 Installation

Anyone have experience doing a DIY install for an espar D8? We have the unit itself but need advice on purchasing all the parts for installation and the installation itself. The dealers have not been very helpful quoting us north of $3000 for installation only and saying there is no "kit" for these units so buying parts would require someone to come look at our boat. Yikes! Any advice?

I helped with the installation of a couple of Espar heaters. Where are you located I could put you in touch with a dealer who is very helpful especially with DIYers. The installation is fairly easy except for drilling the hole through the side of your boat for the exhaust :-0. Our boat was also pre-drilled for all the ductwork which made it much simpler. The grills they use are metric so you may have to hunt around for the right hole saws.

I fitted several myself, not difficult to do. Drill and fit fuel pickup, fuel pump, , drill and fit exhaust skin fitting, then plumb exhaust pipe. Connect up electrics

Biggest pain is routing the ducting

Duct Ohio Organ Company, it is the same duct they use on hot air organ, as in church. Ask for Cleviflex duct.
