Hi Folks

Whichever goose said that cruising means becomeing a jack of all trades was, well, right!
Today I am becoming a gas fitter!!

Its the basic Eno COOKER OPEN SEA with GRILL since 06/2000

My problem is my stove is old and due for replacement but there is no dealer in Turkey and we are in some small village anyway.

The valve for the thermocoupler is malfunctioning (this has nothing to do with my recent changeover to European Camping Gaz.)

The small burner is the only one of the 2 top burners that work.
The small one decided to suddenly go to a much lower gas setting and then to slowly go out, like when the gas bottle runs out. It is as if the thermocoupler valve slowly closes. Pushing the button makes the gas flare up again sometimes, other times it just snuffs it out.

I want to get UNDER the cooktop to see if there is anything I can check and clean there, or to move the valve from the large burner to the small. Or to see if I can fix the large burner.

My question may sound real stupid: Where are the screws to take the cook top off?

Also any thoughts as to the solution to the problem of the gas not remaining on would be appreciated

Back track your gas line all the way from stove top to gas bottle. Smear with soapy (thick) water along hose, and check for leaks. Only other one I know of is air drafts around stove top puts mine out, same as if running out of gas.
Don't know if that helps, also to get my stove top off I have to jerk/shake it sideways and then it lifts off. Can be an arsehole at times. BBQ on beach if all else fails. Sorry my ideas are out.

I will look at our one when I go to the boat this evening, especially if I don't over do it at the club. I remember seeing a manual on board so will email you if I find out anything. There might even be a trouble shooting section.

OK, sorry to bump this thread up again. Mark from Biltong hasn't been able to help.

Does anyone know how the get to the stove top valves and fittings under the stove top plate?

I can't find the screws to undo and rip it apart.

Hi Mark,
I have the same stove but an older model, on mine the screws are hidden too ! On the edge of the stove top( mine are in the middle of the short side) look for what looks like a large rivet, the screws are deep inside them !
Ill be looking at servicing mine in the next ten days when I get to Marmaris, So If I find an Eno agent I'll let you know.

Have you tried to take out the orifice on the burner and clean it with a needle. It sounds like it may be plugged.

Yes, I have tried to take it out but I can't as it will not move. I have used a pin to clean it whilst in place.

Also the 2 screws holding the burner to the top plate are burred by OP and I can't get them out.

Its turning out to be a disaster.

And I still can't get the top off.

Mark,
If I remember well, the top plate is held by screws around the burners. To take them out, you might use some penetrating oil.

Regs fine as the oven works and its same on 2 different regs.

We have an ENO stove that looks to be the same as yours. Take off the pot grate. On the top, there are two small phillips screws, one in the middle of each side. Take these out and remove the top. The burner caps (porcelain) just lift off for cleaning. The burners themselves have several screws (panhead bolts actually) that hold them in place.

When you get the top off, you'll see the gas lines, thermocouples and valve assemblies. We had the same problem ourselves in 2008. I disassembled the valves and inside is a little spring and piston. I thought that these had clogged up and so cleaned and oiled with very light weight machine oil. They worked for several weeks but eventually re-misbehaved. I searched the net for a supplier of these parts and the only ones I could find was at Budget Marine - Home. They are a chandlery in St. Maartens. I had them shipped to our place in the states over one winter and brought them back when we returned to boat. I ordered both thermocouples and security valves and the following are the part numbers:

1 ENO/70655 THERMOCOUPLE 800 MM EA 7.56
1 ENO/71415 THERMOCOUPLE L350MM WITH NUT EA 8.73
2 ENO/72087 SECURITY VALVE FOR STOVE "OPEN EA 91.17

Taking them apart is not that hard. Sorry for the long post

You are in Marmaris now? We will be there in about 1 week. If I haven't got the thing off by then can I interest you in a beer on board Sea Life and perhaps you could show me?

(Its home brew beer and sends some people straight to the Asylum. Somme straight to hospital!)
