Electric Salt Walter pump

Hi, Im considering changing ny whaler foot pump in the galley with small electric pump. Mainly for washing dishes with salt water. Is anything wrong with this idea?

Re: Electric Salt Walter pump

It's a great idea.
On my boat I had a salt water pump, that fed the washdown faucet on deck, galley sink, and shower.

Sure is nice to be able to take a long salt shower (in proper climate) and rinse with a quart or so, of your precious fresh water.

Use a pump that would interchange with the fresh water pump, and you always have a spare if needed for fresh water.

Electric Salt Walter pump

You can add a small inline electric pump between foot pump and whatever it's called where the water comes out...flat drawing a blank here...foot pump still works...

Re: Electric Salt Walter pump

I use one of those cheap Rule inline pumps for this but have had to change it every time it stays unused for a period of time.
Salt water goes nasty if you don't pump it through frequently. That's why watermakers need back flushing etc.
It's great just pushing a button to fill the sink for washing up though.

I've used these for years to supply lakeside cottages & boat system-salt & fresh. Diaphragm pump, run dry safe,no tank reqd-reliable. There are other brands similar -12,24,110v
