Cruising with a porta potty?

Ok anyone cruising long term with a porta potty? I need a mew holding tank and a new thru hull and hate the damn head to begin with. Would really love to ditch the whole setup.

Anyone? How is it going?

Re: Cruising with a porta potty?

I ripped one out immediately on an Adams 31 I had. Put a head in and small holding tank.. I would not entertain the thought of cruising with one...

Re: Cruising with a porta potty?

Here's an old powercruiser trick:
Use a porta potty, attach a fitting and hose to the tank portion. the 1" hose goes to a macerator pump. The porta potty is legal as it has a holding tank. The macerator goes to a thru hull valve that is closed in protected waters. simple easy . I seen many of them on small power cruisers.
Another advantage is there are no internal head parts to fail or clog. You just have to worry about the macerator. You could put a diaphragm manual pump in place of the macerator.

If you don't like dealing with a holding tank a porta potty will be much worse, like dealing with the holding tank every day.

They make them with pump out connections, too. Do some research

I did that years ago using a through hull in the holding tank. It worked well with the macerator. Only through hull in the hull was above the waterline. Cheap alternative and better than hanging over the side dumping that nasty thing.
