composite propane tanks

Anyone have any feedback regarding the new composite propane tanks. (Clear fiberglass ones). Also as anyone had any experience getting them filled in the Bahamas? I am planning an extended cruise to the Bahamas and DR at the end of this year and was thinking about using these new lighter propane tanks. Just wondering if anyone’s tried them.

Thanks

Beware of being unable to get them filled away from where you bought them, I was interested in the concept of light weight, non rusting tanks with a visual as to the level in the tank. I checked with one of the larger filling stations and was told that they are not accepted in New Zealand, (Australia?) and he has had to deal with a lot of frustrated overseas yachties who didn't want to replace their tanks with steel / SS / or alluminium that have been through the bureaucratic hoops and have been certified.

Can't help with if they are OK in the Bahamas but I have one and love it. No problem to get it filled in the US. Really nice to be able to see the level in the tank.

Not to worry about their construction! Most CNG cars also have fiberglass fuel tanks running up to 4000 psi.
