Check valve

Hello,

Planning to help a mate install a shore water connection on his vessel.

Would it be wise to install a check valve to assure no back flow ?

Alan

Re: Check valve

You should use a pressure regulated inlet with back flow preventer. It will keep the city water pressure from damaging your on board water system and also has a built in check valve. Take a look at the Jabsco 44411-1054: Jabsco Water Pressure Regulator - 44411-1054

Re: Check valve

Hi Alan,

Don't know if your buddy has considered this issue, but boats are sunk by this type of water system. All it takes is one hose or fitting to pop loose and you have an infinite supply of water to fill the boat.

It is very convenient but I would recommend always turning off the water supply when not on board, just in case.

Hello,

That is a common worry !

Everyone in the marina turns off the shore water valve when they leave the vessel.
