check valve

Does anyone know of a brand of check valve that is not spring loaded or does not stick as much others?

I have tried to put a check valve inline of my shower sump bilge pump, so that after pumping, the sump does not partially backfill. What ends up happening, especially if not used for over 1 day, is the pump runs and does not actually begin pumping until I take off the grate, reach under and shake the check valve and hose. I presume the check valve is spring loaded and sticky. I have changed bilge pumps to no avail. It is a small rule bilge pump which has plenty of capacity for its job.

Of course not a thrilling proposition to go elbow deep in shower water after supposedly cleaning oneself.

Any advice?

Have you tried Danfoss plastic check valves?
