Cheap chlorine from pool supplier work?

Going to install a PurasanEX into our new liveaboard, seems like a good treatment system from everything I've reading. Worst part now is the cost of the chlorine tablets, which seems high......

Anyone out there used a system that requires chlorine tablets and find a suitable replacement anywhere that is much more affordable? The obvious choice seems a pool supplier, maybe somewhere else?

The chlorine for a pool system, maybe, is not nearly strong enough to use in a marine sanitation system?

Nope...don't do it...you can damage the system. Nor is anything else certified for use with PuraSan.

The chlorine tablets last 500-800 flushes...if you compare the cost of those vs the cost of pumpouts and holding tank products, I think you'll find they're considerably cheaper in the long run.

Re: Cheap chlorine from pool supplier work?

Hi Peggie! The subject of the tablets recently came up with one of my customers. It turns out that they made the package of tablets smaller so that they can be shipped without hazardous shipping charges. Dale says they are now good for about 300 flushes.
I think I calculated the cost per flush at about $0.18. I don't know how that compares to the old price.
