bulkhead mounted holding tank

To the more educated: I'm looking for a bulkhead mounted holding tank to install in our CSY 44. We currently have NO tanks. If possible I'm leaning towards a gravity flow system. Boat is currently in the BVI. Looking for some options.

Cannot offer any options in the BVI but I have been dealing with Dura-Weld in S Florida. They have a number of standard sizes but will also custom make any size and shape you want to fit in an empty space on the boat. That includes putting your choice of fittings in the location of your choice on the tank.

Price not much more than a standard tank.

Disclaimer. Haven't ordered yet but heard they do a good job and the owner is very helpful on the phone.

If so just mount it on the aft bulkhead of the engine room. Just glass on a shelf big enough for the base of the tank and then use 2-3 SS straps to hold it.

That's how I did my Gulfstar 43. I did not hook up the forward head to the holding tank, just use it for offshore..

Just an FYI, Ronco no longer makes custom tanks other than custom location for ports on one of their existing models. They simply weren't profitable as they roto mold their tanks and custom shapes were only good for about one customer and so on. But they do have a HUGE selection of conventional and previously custom tanks that could fit many applications. And they are great people too. When I get around to replacing the rubber bag that came with the boat they will be my first choice for a new holding tank.

Yes, Ronco do have a pretty good rep and while I thought I had to have custom water tanks for my custom chined metal boat, a good half-hour spent with their catalogue and another half-hour spent creasing corrugated cardboard in my engine bay making "tank-sized objects" convinced me that I could buy off the shelf.

Have yet to do so, but will shortly!

BTW, the "cardboard tank" idea is free. Assemble in place and you can easily see whether you REALLY have enough clearance for the plumbing fittings, because getting that measurement 1/4 inch off will ruin your whole day...!
