Building a Watermaker Powered by Exisiting Hyraulic System

Anyone have any experience building a watermaker using an existing engine driven hydraulic system?

I'm looking to build a medium sized system and I see aquamarine sells some kits, but I didn't know if anyone had experience with them or whether trying to use my existing hydraulic pump might be a bad idea... it powers a few other things on board... windlass, crane, winch....

thoughts?

A friend of mine built one belted right off the diesel boat engine, but I can't seem to find the drawings. I guess you can imagine how it'd work with your own. Sounds like fun!

I must be missing something here. If your existing hydraulic pump is working your winch, crane etc using hydraulic fluid in the system, how are you planning on using the same system for saltwater without cross contamination?
