Best. Type I and Type II MSD

We are in the process of replacing our Lectrasan. So I have been researching type I and Type II. We have. 42' trawler, with two heads one going to a 20 gallon holding tank and the Lectrasan having a Y valve to either flow overboard or into another 20 gallon holding tank.

We cruise most of the time in the Chesapeake, which has brackish water. My concern with replacing the Lectrasan with a new Electroscan is that I've read there are issues with knowing when the salt levels were just right.

I'd really like to find something that is low maintenance and doesn't have a huge footprint.

Any suggestions? I will be going to the Annapolis power boat show to talk to vendors, but I'd love to hear some of your views. I don't mind paying more for quality and reliability. Thanks!

Check out the Raritan PuraSan
http://www.raritaneng.com/pdf_files/...urasan0505.pdf
Raritan will have a booth at both of the Annapolis shows.

And btw, you neither need nor want a Type II...they're only required on boats over 65' LOA and much more complex than a Type I.

Re: Best. Type I and Type II MSD

We checked out the Purasan EX at the boat show......I was impressed that Raritan had an engineer manning their booth.

I didn't think until after we left the show to ask about the ability to combine a VacuFlush system with a Purasan with a Hold n Treat System.

Has anyone tried that combination?

Thanks for any insight you can offer?

Yes, the PuraSan (also the ElectroScan) can be connected to a VacuFlush system. As for the Hold 'n' Treat system, it's connected to the holding tank, which the VacuFlush toilet flushes into same as any other toilet does.

Raritan will provide complete instructions. Give 'em a call at 800-352-5630

FWIW I have an electro Scan. I sail out of the West River in the Chesapeake. You will need the optional salt water feed source. I Have the four gallon tank. You fill it with salt And the mother board on the main unit signals a pump to send salt water to the Scan if the salinity is too low for operation. It works fine and you can buy the salt at Lowes-common rock salt. And Raritan's customer service is outstanding.
