Any ideas about how i can add hot water?

Hi folks.
I would like to have hot water in my only bathroom for shower. Got only manual pums and due to my small water tanks would be wise to keep it this way. Do you have any suggestions about brands/products i can use? Got 1 outboard so engine is not an option.

Without engine coolant, you need another energy source. The obvious is electricity; how much current can you get off your alternator/battery? Another is two types of solar - solar panels, and camping black bags that warm through sun exposure.

The good news is that you don't need very much - our 6 gallon heater does two showers if they are the get clean not the Hollywood type.

But, hot water is energy - lots of energy is quantified in terms of heating water. Think what your source is, and then get the smallest on demand or container water heater that will doi the job.

Second thought. Propane is a source you can use. Here's a link to an on-demand propane shower heater. I'm not particularly recommending this one; I'm trying to get you thinking along those lines.

I am refitting my solar panels and i will end with aproximately 400w. I already have the black bag but it's quite unconfortable, and even more if i want to have a shower in winter.
The ideal option, but didn't find anything, would be a tank that would electrically warm up water (boiler) and then being able to deliver either through a manual pump or via an inbuild pressure pump.

There are quite a few on-demand propane water heaters that would be suitable, though they require a pressure water system. Do you have deck space for a solar water heater? Easy to fabricate with lots of tubing inside a glass-topped box.

I am not crazy to put propane onboard......a solar water heater? Could be an option....but lots of space. Electric is still my best option, but the problem is the electric pump.

Put a propane on-demand water heater on a boat we bought in the Baltimore area. It ended up in a dumpster in Norfolk. Impossible to maintain constant water temp.

Now you're dealing with concentrated (electricity from alternator/battery, propane) versus diffuse (solar panels, solar water heater) energy sources. The diffuse sources are going to be complicated and space hogs. They also do not bode well for winter. The concentrated ones include running the outboard or installing propane.

While not denying BobHorn's experience in any way, I think that there are heaters and heaters. I've used third world electric shower heaters that scare me, and very good ones, both propane and electric, in Europe. I think his experience says research and design before you buy.

If you have propane, another option is to heat water, pour it into a bucket and use a battery powered submersible pump from a camping store. They come with a long hose and a shower head.

Without a diesel engine or wanting to use gas, the only other option is a diesel water heater that would provide heat for radiators as well during the winter.

A manual garden sprayer. Heat water on your stove, fill the sprayer, pump up the pressure and take the shower.

Somebody sells purpose made for boats. Very easy, doesn't use much water.

Paint the exterior of the tank black, set it in the sun for an hour or two, and you will have scalding hot water.

I live in South Florida. We've been doing it that way for years. Works great...especially when you wash with salt water and rinse with hot fresh water...

If you are close to a Bass Pro or Cabela's check in their camping section. They have small propane heated showers for tenters. . You can also go to the webs for them and see on line.

Much of the world uses a black tank in the sun and gravity feed. A black bucket or flexible tank will get water so hot you need to add cold to it. In Winter I'm not sure what you can do.
