Another propane question

every time I open the propane locker I smell a bit of gas! I checked with soapy solution and found a leak and fixed it, it was on the back side of the solenoid at the first fitting. I tightened it and no leaks bubbled, but I still smell gas when I open the locker! Is there another way to check for leaks, other than soapy water?

You could use a Combustible Gas Detector, an Acoustic Leak Detector, or an Infrared Imaging Device (camera).
Notwithstanding; Soap Bubble Screening remains the fastest, easiest, and lowest-cost method to screen for leaks, especially effective for locating loose fittings and connections, such as threaded unions, piping connections, plugs, and flanges .

Did you test the main tank valve also? That's where I finally found my leak.

I once called the gas company and reported a leak. The serviceman used a bic lighter to find the leak. Not my idea of safe, but it worked well for him.

The ethyl mercaptan (odorant), may just be "in" the fibreglas now. (After a long period with a leak).

Try washing with dishwashing deteregent, or leaving it open so the sun can get in there at bleach it a bit.

If you notice the odor coming back, get out the soap and water again. Also check along the length of the hose, sometimes you can get a pinhole leak in the hose itself.

Don't forget to do the leak testing with the solenoid and tank valves in their open positions.
