Alternative Refrigeration Compressor Technology

Has anyone looked at using these compact rotary compressors as either retrofit or new design?

Aspen Compressor

Looks like an interesting alternative to the BD compressors everyone has been using forever.

Actually, the BD compressors took over from the old rotary compressors that everyone WAS using forever.

In theory rotary has less loss. In practice...maybe Aspen has applied newer technology (stronger magnets, etc.) to make rotary competitive again.

I may be wrong but I think the Aspen compressor is used on the Glacier Bay Micro HPS system.

Interesting, I will look at that.

They claim a significantly higher COP for a specific operation regime which may or may not have real world efficiency gains. Just an interesting curiosity.
