Algae in my shore water hose

Even after getting a new special white shore water hose, within a couple weeks the green came back. I know sunlight penetrates them to allow the growth but besides a fancy filtering system or going to a bad tasting black or other not transparent hose....is there an answer.

Maybe:
Fill tank. Drain hose and roll up. Store hose out of sunlight. When tank is nearly empty, get hose back out and repeat (rinse hose out before putting water into tank).
Not trying to be smart ass, but that's what I have always done.
As you said, algae requires sunlight. Those white hoses are pretty thin, and the color likely lets lots of light through.

This one is 3/4" and 200 psi rated (don't think sunlight would get through that thing ):

It's probably not only your hose that's causing the problem. Many times the the marinas will use pvc piping for the water and that will grow a good crop of algae as well. Pick up a filter like this from the the Home Depot, Lowes or such. I like the carbon filters, they really do a good job and and the see through housing allows a visual check of how bad it's getting. Also, it's not a bad idea to use them every time you fill up the tanks while out cruising.

Re: Algae in my shore water hose

It's important to get a 'potable' water hose, not just a dark-colored hose to prevent stuff from growing inside. Most of the hoses I've been using become sticky from sitting in the sun - necessary if used for shore hookup - it makes you wonder what chemicals are leaching off inside.

I've ordered a hose from GatorHyde which comes in several dark colors to see if it's more durable.

Also, some of the commonly available hoses in WM and hardware stores have connectors which tend to leak at the threads, likely made off-shore. Another reason to buy made-in-America.
