Adler Barbour Cold Machine VD-21

Hello ALL ,
We have an Adler Barbour Cold Machine that is showing the 3 led
warning .
- symptoms
The fan and compressor start and the compressor runs for about 30 seconds to three minutes then starts to make a loud whiny sound ,then a soft pop and shuts down.

- during that time the draw is around 12-15 amps

- I replaced the Danforth module but nothing changed except it ran a little longer

-We defrosted just before this started but I dont think we popped any holes in the evaporator but thats a possibility

We also used a hair blower and I wondered if the heat from the gun affected the freon charge.

I am down to either a new compressor or some wiring issue but I checked the connections and all seem ok .

Does anyone have any ideas of where to go next or does anyone know a good Fridge guy in Key West .....
THANKS FOR ANY HELP
TOM SV Cecilia Marie.

It sounds like you have a bad compressor. Call SALT in Marathon. They provide marine service all of the Keys. (I was a service manager there once upon a time.)

Do you have a noise filter on the wiring to the Danfoss compressor? Possibly installed to remove RFI from getting into your HF radio?.
I had a similar problen; compressor would start, fan would run, then compressor would shut down after 30 secs. It cycled like this for quite a while. Finally, after checking everything I could think of, I removed the Newmar noise filter that I had installed years earlier (it never did eliminate any noise) from the 12v wiring to the Danfoss controller. Bingo, problem solved!

Suggest you read TECH TIP #1 on my web site it is not the compressor it is an electrical problem. Having a technician tamper with this type Adler Barbour unit will only make things worse. Check 15 amp fuse in stainless steel box to see if it is discolored do to overheating if not, Next run a new jumper wire direct from Danfoss control module Ground terminal direct to battery ground terminal.
