110vac Refrigerator Problems ! Replacement ?

On our boat we have 2 boxes a freezer with two holding plates and a refrigerator with 1. The compressor is an older water cooled Technicold 110v. The refrigeration tech thinks it could be the salt water that has got to the condenser. All fittings have been leak tested. We would like to upgrade to 12v. Anyone have a 12v system with a seperate refrig and freezer? Leaning towards holding plates and do not want to cut a hole through the walls!

What's the problem with the Technicold?

Holding plates on 12V systems aren't the most efficient. You will need to describe your box size, insulation and setup to get better help.

We have a separate 12V reefer/freezer that works well - a spillover system that requires two small holes in the separator wall. Another way to do it would be with two separate systems - one in each box.
