1-Toilet...2-Tanks?

Looking for advice on a flexible toilet setup:

We have 2 x heads on the boat. One is 20 gal holding tank (deck or outboard pump-out) and one is a 10 gal Lectra-san (overboard pump-out only).

Is it possible/feasible to add an "additional" standard holding tank (with a Y-Valve) to the Lectra-san head so we can choose which tank the toilet flushes to? My desire is to add this "option" with a deck-top waste port on the standard holding tank side to permit pump-out at the dock when in a live-aboard slip so we can use both toilets at the dock. Even Lectra-san is a no-go when parked in an NDZ.

I have the space for a standard tank on the common bulkhead with the toilet so that the hose run would be the same distance as those that go to the Lectra-san.

Does anyone have experience with this setup and can you offer any advice?

Sure. You can pump the output from a Lectra-San into a tank. The pump doesn't know, or care, where the effluent is going. It just pumps.

I hadn't considered simply pumping the Lectra-San effluent to a holding tank that can be emptied via pump-out? Useful insight - thanks denverdOn...certainly a course of action.

Hmm. If you hadn't considered it then I guess I don't quite understand what you're asking, because that is what I thought you were asking.

Re: 1-Toilet...2-Tanks?

There is no pump in a Lectra/San...incoming waste pushes treated waste out (that's an oversimplification). That can create issues when discharging into a tank...for instance, relative heights of the LS discharge and the tank inlet.

It makes no difference whether the waste going into a tank has been treated or not...so the simplest solution IMO would be a y-valve in the toilet discharge line--one side to the LS, the other to the tank.

You're welcome to contact me directly if you need to discuss your proposed installation in more detail than is practical in a forum.
