We are anticipating the replacement of the cone
clutch in our stb
Yanmar SD 50
transmission as one of the alternatives to solve the cone
clutch slipping problem. In addition we will make the necessary adjustments to the
gear selector and make sure that the end play is correct on the cluch shaft as has been suggested.
We will keep the existing cone clutch and re-lap it and keep it as a spare. The
work will be done by myself and a
mechanic down in
Georgetown,
Exumas. As
parts are not readily available there can anyone tell us exactly which
parts we will need to bring with us to
Georgetown to install a new cone clutch so we can get this sucker back sailing safely.
We have the full
parts list for the SD 50, the exploded view drawings and all the part numbers but
we have not been able to figure out just what parts we should order to complete the job of replacing the cone clutch. Can anyone provide us the infomation. The sail drive has about 600 hours on it at this time. Thanks for your help.
