Yanmar SD20 Only Goes in Forward

My Yanmar sd20 has developed a problem in that it only goes in forward whether I shift into forward or reverse gear. It does stay in neutral when in that position. Any thoughts?

Not a transmisison expert but have you manually checked and operated the linkages at the gearbox?

Any grinding or unusual noises?

Thanks ex-calif. It looks like there is a problem with the clutch cap. Must be replaced. Thanks again.
