Has anyone changed out the gate valves that come standard on
Yanmar saildrives with a proper ball-valve?
No idea why
Yanmar would still be manufacturing and selling gate valves, but they do. And seem to be the only "yanmar" option.
I have already replaced then 2x on each (2x)
engine, and once again they are having issues. Yes, I open and close them almost every 2-3 weeks to make sure they dont get clogged, but they still have issues. Now one
leaks a drip when it is closed, and the other doesn't close all the way.
So looking for suggestions on what would be a good way to do this, and if anyone has already done this.
We have SD20's.
Not sure what material is OK to use, the
current ones are
bronze, I think. I am sure marelon will be ok, but think I would prefer metal going into the SD itself.
Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
