Yanmar Cone Clutch Parts Question

We are heading down to the Bahamas and I need to bring with me the parts necessary to replace the cone clutch in my SD50 sail drive. Can any one tell me what parts I need to order and to have with me to make this repair? Thanks for your help.

Re: Yanmar Cone Clutch Parts Question

Other than the Cone (if it needs replacing) also the following parts: Top Nut 196324-04380 qty1
Thrust Washer 196322-04361 qty1
Collar Thrust 196320-04410 qty1
Circlip 196322-04370 qty2
Collar set 196320-0440 qty1

As explained before, the vertical free play of the Centre Shaft (measured below the Top Nut) after assembly and tightening the Top nut should be 0.2mm. It is a bit of a juggle because the thrust washers come in 0.5mm thickness increments. Shape/sand to correct specs!

Also important to adjust/shim the selector correctly acc to the manual.

If ALL off this is done correctly, your problems should be at an end.

Re: Yanmar Cone Clutch Parts Question

Doug,

in this forum you can find a step-by-step instruction on how to take out the cone assembly, how to re-lap it and how to reinstall. I watched it once and have some lapping compound on my boat for when it happens again.

Panache,
Could you confirm that how long your SD50 cone clutch fix lasted. I believe you first mentioned the solution in Sept 2013. Are they still running trouble free?
Our SD50s have had to be done 3 times in 3 years.

Thanks

Hi.The clutches are still performing 100% since the correct repair in 2013. Now on 1650Hrs and touch wood, all still well.
