Wanted Good Yanmar SD50 Service in So Florida

One of the SD50 transmissions in my Lagoon 500 is in need of gear replacement due to damage caused by bad meshing of the main gears. I am looking for recommendations for a good service company to do this work in southern Florida. Can anyone provide any suggestions of who to use that is both experienced and well qualified.
I also need a suggestions for a haul out location for the 28' wide catamaran in the same location.
Thanks for your help. Doug. Matauri500

Re: Wanted Good Yanmar SD50 Service in So Florida

Tough question, very difficult to find any experience with mechanic who will want to repair while in the boat. I just replaced starboard sd40 with the new sd60. I have an sd50 on port that is 2 years old already slipping, it has also been noisy since day one. Long story short, pull it out and replace with sd60. Not sure how difficult to do on your 50'. On our voyage 45 one day job.

Thanks for the info. I expect that we will have to drop out the entire stern leg and transmission to do the work while on the hard.
Can you give me any idea what a new SD 60 transmission costs not including the cost to install? Changing out the whole thing might be a good option.
Thanks
Doug

Paid around $5500.00 from Mastry in St. Petersburg, FL. You should be able to get a little cheaper from a dealer.

In Ft.Lauderdale call, " Complete Yacht Service", ask for the owner Mark. They do Perkins and Yanmar, been there for years. If they cant help you he will tell you who can.
