Volvo MD 2030 29 hp.. Ideal rpm speed

Likely applied to most similar diesels. What's the best rpm when under motor..
Many diesels should be run near max running rpm, running for long periods less than 80% is not ideal leading to build up ..

TRUE OR FALSE

never quite sure to push the engines on longer runs or run 80% range.. Which for mine is 1800 rpm range. Max is 2400 I believe !

Thankd

Max RPM in neutral should be 34-3600 I believe.

This is same engine as Perkins Perama M30. Made by Ishibaura-Japan as a 106-10. You can google Perkins & download their manual also.

Cheers/ Len

Re: Volvo MD 2030 29 hp.. Ideal rpm speed

The max rpm for that engine is 3600. We run ours at 2800 as a full "cruising speed", but really just run them at whatever rpm meets our requirements. For example, when running just one engine (most of our usage) in no wind, we run at 2800. If running two engines into an anchorage or punching into current, then usually 2400. If needing to get someplace fast, then two at 2800. If motorsailing in very light wind, then one at 2400.
