Two Qs: SD50 Shake and Bubbles in SD Oil

Hello all -

I have a 2006 Yanmar 4JH4 / SD 50 setup on my catamaran (two of course and have a few questions.

1. There is a shudder in the drivetrain system somewhere. We have 1,100 hours on our engines and have felt like it is becoming a little worse than when we bought the bought with 800 hours on the engines. What would be your troubleshooting chart?

2. When I run the engines for a long time I can see tiny bubbles in the oil. I know about the dipstick problem and have the oil at the correct level.... but it is just weird - the port engine gets all the little bubbles - and of course the actual volume expands some. Any ideas?

Thanks! -steve

Re: Two Qs: SD50 Shake and Bubbles in SD Oil

The bubbles are aeration and not abnormal. So is expansion which is caused by the heat n friction creating aeration As for vibration does it have folding props? If not does it vibrate while sailing with the prop free wheeling?
