transom assembly

Can an alpha 1 gen II transom assembly be used on the SEC106 stern drive which is an alpha gen I type?

Also is there a way to look up standard hour time for work. They are trying to tell me 22 hours for 2x bell housing changes when a mechanic via the internet told me 3.8 hours.

What is the deal?
