Spurs line cutter, Broken rotary cutter

Hi did anyone deal with broken parts of the Spurs line cutter. It appears that both blades on the rotary line cutter have severed. This seems to be the main part. Its 1 molded piece and a largest component. Is it worth inquiring about replacement part or should i just toss it? These cutters are very pricey.

I had a similar failure when a shaft coupling slipped. Replaced the broken parts easily. Folks at spurs were easy to work with, and had all my info on file.

Having had them known to clear lines on a few occasions, I would not be without them

Did the stationary blade or rotary blade break? I'll call them.

The folks at Spurrs are very good, replaced mine for free a number of years back.

Parts are available. If you need lots of pieces, you might consider switching to a different style line cutter (e.g shaft shark)

Re: Spurs line cutter, Broken rotary cutter

As I feared, that part alone is 290$. The folks do seem wonderful but replacement parts are too much for my budget. And I still need few more parts in addition to the rotating cutter. The cost of new unit is in the 400$+ range. So i have to say that on my previous boat i installed a shaft shark in 2003 and it still works. Design is simple and its hard to imagine a circumstance where an accident would destroy a shaft shark the way this got totaled. Next time i'm at a boat show i might bring the remnants to the Spurs booth. Looking at the pieces, it seems very easy to sever both rotary cutters, essentially what happened to this one.
