Saildrive bogs down engine

I have Volvo D240 saildrives in each hull on my 42 catamaran. When we motor long distances the port saildrive will run fine for a couple of hours before suddenly bogging the engine down and engine RPMs drop suddenly. What might cause this?
The oil level is fine and no white milky fluid is present. Will dive on it at first light to see if it's fouled.
We are currently underway running from a tropical storm in the Baja.

Re: Saildrive bogs down engine

It sounds more fuel related than sail drive related to me.

Maybe the fuel tank vent is clogged or tank debris is getting sucked into the pickup tube or....

Re: Saildrive bogs down engine

Thanks for your reply. I think the vent could be the issue so will check that. We made it to a safe harbor under sail in light winds due to the other engine overheating. I've got some work to do while here in La Paz, Mexico.
